QPR - Suicide Prevention




Alongside the advocacy work we do, PMHCA has a selection of trainings that are outstanding. There are trainings for mental health professionals, peer professionals, and anyone who wants to learn more about mental health and recovery. We pride ourselves in the creation of a learning environment that is safe, comfortable, and effective. For most trainings offered, there is an in person, virtual, or hybrid ability. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer)

This is a suicide prevention training where the participant learns to recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone to help appropriately. Youth MOVE PA provides this training to professionals and youth as an emergency mental health intervention for suicide. Certification is provided.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life

Time: 2.5 hours

Number of People: 25


  • Youth QPR will be offered March 8, 2023 from 3:30 pm to 6:00pm virtually on zoom. There is no cost for this training - Register Here!


  • On Thursday, May 4th, 2023,  QPR Training will be  part of the Mental Health Awareness Days workshops. It will be in conjunction with the video screening of the I Didn't Die, But... This day will begin at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Cost is $30 per participant. The event will be held at the PMHCA Office at 2551 Walnut Street in Harrisburg, PA. Register Now!


  • Adult QPR will be offered May 31, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm virtually on zoom. The cost is $20.00 per person - Register Here!



Impact of Suicide

Estimated 50% of the population will be exposed to suicide at some point throughout their lifetime

Average of 115 people are exposed when suicide occurs

Of these, an average of 63 will identify as close with the person

25 will be impacted in a major way

11 will have a devastating impact on their life
